It is basically a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer with its headquarter located in Seoul, South Korea. The company was founded in 1967. The Hyundai Motor Group jointly consists of 32.8% owned subsidiary, Kia Motors, and its 100% owned luxury subsidiary Motors. Hyundai is the third largest vehicle manufacturer in the world. It has the largest incorporated automobile manufacturing facility in Ulsan, South Korea. Hyundai is capable of the production capacity of 1.6 million units. It’s vehicles are sold in 193 countries by means of 5,000 dealerships and showrooms.
In 1947,Dewan Farooque Motors Limited migrated to Pakistan . Dewan family is currently growing in Automobiles & Motorcycles industry. In Dec. 1998, DFML signed an agreement with Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation for purpose of production and distribution of Hyundai and Kia cars in Pakistan.

Hyundai Cars In Pakistan
Hyundai Pony , After 1975 ,was imported in Pakistan in limited number however it could not make up its mark because of Japanese brands dominance in Pakistani automotive market. In 1993 A local importer / distributor M/s. Kandawala Motors, initiated the Excel sedan by Hyundai Motors as a cab. You can still see some of the Hyundai Excels yellow cabs in Karachi today. In the year 1994 DFML debuted “Shehzore”, a light commercial vehicle with One Ton load capacity. The launching of this vehicle was very success for DFML. Shehzore took the lead and defeated Toyota Hiace which was market leader at that point of time.
Afterwards, in the year 2000, Hyundai Santro hatchback four doors car with 1000 CC engine was introduced in Pakistan by DFML. This was the first generation Santro and it totally failed in Pakistan. Nevertheless in the year 2003, DFML unveiled second generation Santro and that model was well-accepted by the customers. It eventually became successful in Pakistani automotive market.
